Owen County Traffic Court Records
Owen Local Rule LR60-AR1(E)-1 assigns all criminal and traffic cases to Owen Circuit Court I, identifier 60C01. Current official lists show no Spencer or Gosport municipal court. The Owen County Clerk keeps the official CCS and case file, while MyCase publishes the nonconfidential public view.
A traffic CCS can show the citation or case number, court, case type, parties, offense, events, settings, orders, balance information when exposed, and disposition. It is a court record of the citation case. It is not the citation itself, a payment receipt, or a BMV driver record.
Search Owen Tickets in Indiana ePay
The Indiana ePay public interface provides the first direct citation search. It accepts a UTT number, a driver's-license number, or a name and date of birth. Not every ticket is available or eligible for payment, so an empty result must lead to MyCase or the Clerk.

A returned detail may show ticket date, number, agency, court, case number, offense, current balance, fee lines, and copy or payment options. Juvenile tickets may be payable while copies remain unavailable. Dynamic fees and eligibility should be read from the live result rather than assumed.
Looking Up an Owen County Traffic Ticket
Use the complete UTT number from the citation when available. Without it, ePay permits a name and date-of-birth search, and MyCase offers Case and Name modes. Filter MyCase to Owen Circuit Court 1. If the record has not posted or a balance looks wrong, use the Clerk's phone or courthouse counter.
- Copy the full UTT number and response instructions from the ticket.
- Search the UTT in ePay, including leading zeros.
- Without the ticket, use name and date of birth in ePay or Name mode in MyCase.
- Filter MyCase to 60C01 and compare the case number, offense, and status.
- Call (812) 829-5015 or visit the Clerk at 60 South Main Street if no reliable match appears.
Owen Traffic Cases Use 60C01
The court filter prevents a common mistake. Owen traffic cases use Circuit Court I, 60C01, rather than a town court identifier. A typical Indiana number combines that five-character court code, the filing year and month, a case type such as IF, and the filing sequence.
Ordinance violations are different under Owen's allocation rule: OV or OE matters go to Circuit Court II, 60C02. Read the citation and case type before choosing the division. A place name or issuing agency does not override the official court shown in the CCS.
The CCS should be read as a sequence. A citation filing, setting, continuance, payment entry, order, and final disposition each mark a different event. A closed status does not explain the outcome by itself. Open the chronological history and read the newest relevant entries. When a number was copied without its leading zeros or hyphens, keep the full printed form for any call or written request to the Clerk.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
Read the citation's appearance instructions, then compare them with the newest CCS setting. Court I publishes Traffic Court on Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., but that recurring session is not proof of an individual setting. A continuance or reset should be confirmed from the later docket entry or an order.
| Citation Number | The UTT number, including leading zeros. |
|---|---|
| Court | Owen Circuit Court I, 60C01, for traffic. |
| Date & Time | The current case-specific appearance or hearing setting. |
| Courtroom | The location in the CCS, notice, or court confirmation. |
| Status | Open, closed, scheduled, continued, paid, or disposed as shown. |
Thursday Owen Traffic Court
The official Circuit Court I page lists Thursday Traffic Court at 4:00 p.m. and gives the court office phone as (812) 829-5030. Office and courtroom hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Recurring hours help identify the correct office, but they do not replace the ticket or CCS. Before traveling, verify the case-specific date and location. The Court Services calendar covers probation and community-corrections events and is not the judicial traffic calendar.
Pay or Contest an Owen County Ticket
The citation controls the response options and deadline. Owen sources did not publish one universal contest date, a county deferral schedule, or a defensive-driving program, so those terms must not be invented. Read the ticket and confirm the correct route with the Clerk before acting.
| Paying the Ticket | Contesting the Ticket |
|---|---|
| Follow the citation's payment and plea instructions. | Follow the citation's method for requesting a court determination. |
| Use the deadline printed on the citation or confirmed by the court. | Respond by the ticket's stated deadline. |
| Use an eligible online route or the Clerk-approved channel. | Contact Circuit Court I or the Clerk for the required filing or appearance. |
Missed appearance or payment: Indiana BMV says a failure to appear or failure to pay after judgment can lead to court-reported suspension action. Contact the court first to resolve the court requirement, then follow any BMV reinstatement steps.
PayGov Is Not an Owen Docket
The PayGov portal is linked by the Owen Clerk for fees, fines, judgments, and traffic citations. It processes a county-configured payment but does not search the CCS or prove the current court date.

The Clerk specifically tells people to call before paying a traffic amount online. Confirming the balance helps avoid relying on stale public financial data or selecting the wrong transaction. Keep the payment confirmation, but request a certified CCS from the Clerk if an authenticated court record is required.
Payment and contest are different paths. The ticket supplies the response deadline and instructions. An online amount should not be treated as a universal offer to resolve every citation. Some tickets are not eligible for online payment, and the Owen sources do not publish one deferral rule for all cases. Before acting, confirm the court, cause number, amount, and available response with the Clerk. A reader who plans to contest the citation should follow the court instructions instead of using a payment screen as a substitute for filing or appearing.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
The Owen Clerk maintains the court case record, including the citation case, settings, orders, balance entries, and disposition when public. Indiana BMV maintains the separate Official Driver Record and handles driving-privilege suspensions. Resolving one file does not automatically supply a copy of the other.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Kept By | Owen County Clerk and Circuit Court I | Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles |
| Shows | Citation case, settings, orders, disposition, and court balance data | State driving-history and privilege information |
| How to Get It | MyCase, Clerk counter, phone, mail, or APRA request | Official BMV record channel |
Owen Missed-Ticket Resolution Path
The BMV common-violations page explains that failure to appear or pay can cause suspension action after court reporting.

The first step is to contact Owen Circuit Court I or the Clerk and satisfy the court requirement. The BMV does not replace that court step.
The BMV reinstatement page then explains the state-side process.

The court must send the appropriate notice after the appearance or payment. Keep proof and confirm both systems rather than assuming an immediate update.
After resolving the court issue, check what further BMV step is required. The court record and the driver record have different custodians and may update on different schedules. A receipt proves a transaction, not the final state of both files. Retain the case number, confirmation, and any court notice so the correct office can trace the update if the systems do not yet agree.
Owen Traffic Record Copies and Fees
For a traffic CCS or filed document, contact the Owen Clerk at (812) 829-5015 or visit 60 South Main Street, Spencer. Mail goes to P.O. Box 146. Confirm page count, certification, payment, delivery, and turnaround because those details are not fully published.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Plain copy | $1 per page | Published Clerk rate |
| Certified copy | $2 per certified page | Clerk-authenticated copy |
| Inspection | No county inspection fee | Copying, scanning, and postage may apply |
Owen Ticket Guidance from State Police
The Indiana State Police traffic-ticket page directs payment to the county where the ticket was issued and tells a person with a lost ticket to contact that county's court.

For Owen, that means the unified Clerk and Circuit Court I rather than a Spencer or Gosport municipal clerk. The state guidance reinforces the fallback when ePay cannot find a ticket. Give the name, approximate citation date, issuing agency if known, and any available number.
MyCase can then supply the public CCS. For a certified copy, stop at the Clerk rather than treating a portal screen or online receipt as the official record. The Owen case number helps both offices trace it.
