Find Owen Civil Dockets

Start an Owen County civil docket search with the statewide public portal, then turn to the clerk for the official record. The docket tracks a civil case from complaint through service, motions, hearings, orders, and judgment. Claims, property, family, and small claims matters all show up here. The Clerk of the Owen Circuit Court holds the official Chronological Case Summary and filed documents. One caution applies. A public case header does not open every pleading, exhibit, or personal record to online view.

Searching Owen County Civil Dockets

Indiana MyCase is the entry point. Select Owen Circuit Court 2, identifier 60C02. A full case number works best, though name and attorney searches also run. Filter by court, case status, and filing-date range to cut false matches. MyCase public search is free and needs no account for ordinary nonconfidential access. Before opening a result, confirm the number, court, case type, caption, filing date, and status. Missing CCS or paper? Call the Owen County Clerk at (812) 829-5015. The counter sits at 60 South Main Street, Spencer, and mail goes to P.O. Box 146, Spencer, IN 47460. The county public-records form can also help. It routes a clear existing-record request to Court II or the Clerk.

Owen Civil Cases Use 60C02

Local Rule LR60-AR1(E)-1 routes every civil case to Circuit Court II. That docket includes civil tort, plenary, collections, mortgage foreclosure, domestic relations, paternity, reciprocal support, protective orders, CHINS, juvenile termination, small claims, and ordinance violations. The official Court II page lists the court's second-floor office and its (812) 829-5046 phone.

That local division sits behind the 60C02 prefix. Owen keeps one unified Clerk, not separate civil and criminal clerks. For scheduling or courtroom questions, go to Court II; the Clerk holds the official file.

Inside an Owen County Civil Docket

Think of the civil CCS as the case's ordered register. It records the filing date, number, caption, and party roles. Attorneys appear there too. It also logs pleadings, service, motions, hearings, orders, judgment, post-judgment work, and settings. The CCS is a summary. It is not the complaint, answer, exhibit, or certified file itself.

An online order may appear while its exhibits stay off screen. A judgment entry does not prove payment or satisfaction either. Ask the Clerk for the official judgment or payment record.

Owen Civil Docket Codes

Indiana Rule 8 codes route a result. CT means civil tort. CC means civil collection. PL is civil plenary, MF is mortgage foreclosure, and EV is a petition for eviction. SC is small claim. Newer domestic-relations cases carry DC with children and DN without. DR still marks older domestic cases. PO is order of protection, RS reciprocal support, and MI miscellaneous civil.

CT
A civil tort action.
PL
A civil plenary matter not assigned a narrower code.
EV
An eviction petition, including qualifying related damages.
SC
A small-claims filing.
Setting
A scheduled court event, not always a trial.

Other codes route differently under the Owen rule. Adoption goes to Court I despite its civil character. Mental-health, guardianship, estate, trust, and expungement matters follow their assigned categories too, not a loose civil label.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

Owen civil court dockets reach past suits for money. Collections, tort claims, plenary actions, foreclosures, evictions, small claims, domestic relations, paternity, support, child-welfare matters, protective orders, tax matters, and ordinance cases can all appear. Each family of cases carries its own access limits and procedural steps.

A case code is a filing class, not a short account of the dispute. For what actually happened, read the CCS and the orders.

Owen Eviction Code Differences

Indiana's transition put newer eviction requests under EV. A property dispute that seeks no eviction can stay CC or SC, depending on the claim. Searching one case type alone can miss the case. Search 60C02 by name, then compare caption, filing date, and code. Ask the Clerk when the category is unclear. Domestic relations made the same move: DC and DN apply to cases filed on or after January 1, 2017, while older matters can retain DR. A family-court designation may coordinate related matters before one judge, but it does not erase each case number. Keep the exact number for every request.

Owen Civil Settings and Hearings

A CCS setting may name a conference, motion hearing, trial, or another event. Read the latest entry for its date, time, court, and type. A continuance is a court-authorized delay; a reset moves the setting. Neither one dismisses the claim. Written scheduling orders may hold more detail than the summary row. Court II lists one jury trial Wednesday per month. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch. That is a recurring block, not a case-specific promise. Jury excusal or deferral requests must be written. Staff and judges do not give legal advice. A medical excuse must be backed by a statement from a physician. Owen Civil E-Filing Trail

Attorneys must e-file in Owen County. Other filers are encouraged to use the Indiana E-Filing System. IEFS moves papers, not the public. A certified service provider sends the filing into the Odyssey workflow. The Notice of Electronic Filing follows. It records the filing time and recipients. Searching a later CCS entry is a separate act from uploading a paper. The Trial Rule 86 page defines Indiana electronic filing and service.

Indiana Trial Rule 86 electronic filing page

That rule draws the line between filing a paper and reading its CCS entry. Trial Rule 87 covers required filing and exceptions.

Indiana Trial Rule 87 filing requirements

These e-filing rules govern filing conduct, not public viewing of the filed paper.

Civil Docket Access Rules

Indiana Access to Court Records Rules 4 and 5 set the boundary. The line sits between public and excluded material. Civil orders often travel further online than criminal ones. CT, PL, MF, tax, and other nonconfidential civil documents can be easier to reach. Family, juvenile, mental-health, adoption, protective-order, medical, and protected-identifier material faces tighter limits instead. A public caption does not unlock every attachment. Work through the access matrix first. Then ask the Owen County Clerk about the exact paper. Rule 9 offers a verified court procedure for excluded records. That door opens only under extraordinary circumstances or a compelling public interest. An ordinary public-record request cannot override a court restriction.

Read the CCS first. Its dates and event names help the Clerk identify the paper while avoiding a broad request.

Certified Owen Civil Docket Copies

Certified copies of an Owen County civil docket carry posted prices. The Clerk lists $1 per plain page and $2 per certified page. The official material sets out no separate search fee, mail fee, identification rule, or turnaround time. So confirm those details first. The county form allows inspection, copies, or both. Delivery can be electronic, by pickup, or by United States mail. Copying, scanning, and postage fees may require advance payment. Anyone filing through IEFS can choose from certified e-filing providers that Indiana lists. The official provider page shows the available services.

A provider only submits the filing. Certification of a court copy remains a Clerk function.

Confirming an Owen Civil Docket

Check before you rely on a civil result. Match the 60C02 prefix, the filing date, the code, the caption, and the status. Then note the exact CCS event and its date for the paper needed. The county form asks for a reasonably particular description. Owen County supplies existing records only. The office need not create a new report for a requester. A request may seek inspection, copies, or both. Delivery can be electronic, by pickup, or by United States mail. Ask the Clerk about availability, page count, certification, payment, and timing. No official source promises a same-day certified copy or a public self-service terminal.
